The Gift of Travel: World Schooling + Fun

I know many of you have been watching my travels for the past few years and also many of you have also joined me and began to also add more travel into your lives. It brings me joy to be able to help others travel... travel is the best form of education, which I call world schooling, and it is also the best gift you can every give to yourself, your children, your family, friends.... heck it's the best gift you could ever give to anyone!

Today's post is dedicated to the many of you that have asked me why do I love travel so much and also for those of you that question how or why I would take my son out of school to travel.

Well here goes my answer. Let's start of with the first question and let me share with you all why I love to travel so much. First off traveling the world has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. Growing up I used to watch reading rainbow and when they read the books they would always travel to places far, far away and all I wanted to do was jump in the books and go experience the photos in the books in person instead of using my imagination. As a young girl whenever I went to the zoo I wanted to play with the animals up, close and personal instead of having to feed the giraffe over the fence. When I read the jungle book, I wanted to go to the jungle and so much more. I was a dreamer... always has been and always will be.

Fast forward to 2005 I became a mother and my dreams of traveling didn't stop. Now my dreams only got bigger and I began saving money so that I could take my son on vacations. The only problem was whenever I felt like we were getting close to saving up, an emergency always came

up that needed to use our vacation money to solve it. So the dreams of vacations just got pushed further and further back in the back of my mind. In 2011 I became a mother for the second time, however my son passed away and travel was the least thing on my mind. However as time passed I began to come back and my dreams began to work again. I began to think about travel more, and more, and more. I didn't just want to travel however I wanted to pack as many memories into my first born son's life as I could because now I realized more than ever that tomorrow was not guaranteed.

In May 2012 I was introduced to the worlds coolest and sexiest travel & lifestyle club on the planet called DreamTrips. A travel club that allowed you to "EARN" your vacations instead of having to pay for them. Those travel prices was right up my alley! I joined and from that moment my travel journeys began!

Now for the second question of how or why do I take my son out of school to travel. First off let me be very clear that my son does not miss a lot of school to travel. In a school year he misses

about no more than 10-20 days for travel. Most children are sick this many days in a school year.

My son is very rarely sick nor does he ever just like to miss school for no reason. This kid loves school. He loves school so much that we schedule most of our trips around his school breaks, holidays, etc. the best that we can. When we do travel we make sure that my son is caught up on all of his class work and school work while he is away and my son's really great at getting his assignments done. He also works on set for film and TV so he has been used to missing school and doing independent study since he first started school. So in the nutshell I can say that he's a pro already.

In addition to completing the homework assigned by his teachers, he also is being world schooled while we travel so he learns about the history of each place he visits, learns about current events, the culture, the foods, etc and he writes a report and includes photos that he has taken to document his travels. These reports he turns into his teachers also when he returns from his travels along with his assigned classwork and homework.

So for all of the parents out there that are perhaps afraid to travel with your child, know that there is a way to travel and Dreamtrips is the best way to do it!
